No foul play is suspected after a 9-year-old boy was found unresponsive in a barn in Daviess County early Monday evening before being pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Just after 5 pm the Daviess County Sheriff’s Officer received a call about a young boy found unresponsive in a barn. According to a news release from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, the initial caller stated it was unknown how long the victim was there during the time of the call.
Sheriff’s deputies, Southwest Medical and Odon/Madison Volunteer Fire fighters arrived at the scene East County Road 726 North in Montgomery. Upon arrival, crews were directed to a hayloft inside the barn on the property, where they found 9-year old Michael Stoll, lying unresponsive on the floor.
The news release said CPR was in progress and continued by deputies and medical personnel. Soon after, the boy was removed from the hayloft and transported to Daviess Community Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s Department says after an initial investigation, the cause of death has been ruled accidental; however, the investigation is ongoing.
