A Jasper man was taken into custody Monday afternoon on charges of identity deception and receiving stolen property after an investigation by Jasper Police initiated back in January.
Police say officers took a complaint on January 26th from a person who said someone attempted to obtain credit cards using the victim’s information.
During a follow-up on the investigation police conducted a search of an apartment occupied by 35-year old Paul Burrows located at 506 Village court in Jasper.
During the search information about the victim was located. Police say Burrow’s admitted to taking mail from the mailbox area of the apartment complex and used information in an attempt to obtain credit cards in the victim’s name.
Burrows was placed under arrest just before 2 o’clock Monday afternoon. He faces charges of identity deception and receiving stolen property. Burrows was lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.
