A Master Trooper with the Indiana State Police is retiring to become the new mayor of Petersburg.

Indiana State Police Master Trooper Frank Coleman has been selected to replace

Mayor Jon Craig who resigned last month to become deputy director of community and rural affairs under Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann.

A Republican caucus held an election this past Saturday to choose the next mayor.  Coleman, a 27-year state police veteran, was selected from a pool of six candidates.  He will be sworn in February 22nd.

Coleman joined the state police in 1985 and has primarily patrolled Pike County his entire career. He has also twice served as a counselor at the Indiana State Police Recruit Academy.
