Here’s a look at what’s going on in your neighborhood:


Folk singer-songwriter Todd Snider will headline this year’s Ferdinand Folk Festival. The Folk Fest committee announced the line-up for the free music fest on Saturday night at the intermission of a special performance by the Boscoe France Band at the Ferdinand Legion. The festival will feature Ferdinand’s own Bethany Boeglin as the opening act, followed by Opal Fly of Evansville. Austin-based The Carper Family will follow Fly, and The Carper Family will be followed by Lindsay Lou and the Flatbellies. The Boscoe France Band will return to Ferdinand to play the main stage for the festival. Rounding out the entertainment this fall will be the Dirty Guv-Nah’s of Knoxville, Tennessee with Todd Snider to headline the show.

Snider has been hailed by Rolling Stone magazine as “America’s Sharpest Musical Storyteller.” The Ferdinand Folk Festival is slated for Saturday, September 21st at the 18th Street Park in Ferdinand.

Also this past weekend, it was announced that Best Home Furnishings has stepped up as a Diamond Level sponsor of the Ferdinand Folk Festival.


The St. Patrick’s Day parade scheduled as part of Ireland’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration was cancelled yesterday due to inclement weather. The parade has been rescheduled for next Sunday, March 24th at 1 pm.
