Snow-covered roads are believed to be the cause of a two vehicle crash in northern Daviess County that claimed the life of a Jasper woman Tuesday afternoon.
The Daviess County Sheriff’s office says 61-year old Margaret “Maggie” Clark of Jasper was traveling southbound on US highway 231 in her minivan about 2 miles north of Farlen, following an SUV driven by 17-year-old Cameron Chestnut of Odon just after 3:30 when the accident took place.
Police said Chestnut lost control on the snow- and slush-covered roadway and his SUV started to spin across the highway. Police say the front of Clark’s minivan struck the passenger door of the SUV causing severe damage to both vehicles.
Clark was pronounced dead at the scene by the Daviess County Coroner’s office. Chestnut was taken by ambulance to Daviess Community Hospital in Washington where he was listed in stable condition.
