Former Buffalo Trace Council executive Ryan Bieler pleaded guilty to six child pornography charges yesterday.

Bieler pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography and five counts of receiving child pornography.

Ryan BielerBieler was originally arrested in November of last year after authorities investigated his home and found DVD’s, electronic media, and writings that described his own sexual fantasies about children.

Bieler waived his right to grand jury indictment in U.S. District Court at Evansville. Bieler could get up to 10 years of prison time for the possession of child pornography charge and between 5 and 20 years for each of the five receiving child pornography counts.

Federal investigators and the Buffalo Trace Council have yet to find evidence that suggests Bieler was involved in inappropriate activities with boy scouts during his time there. Bieler spent most of his time working with troop leaders according to the Buffalo Trace Council.

Federal prosecutors plan to recommend that Bieler serve a sentence somewhere in the middle of the sentencing ranges or the mandatory minimum sentence if it is greater than that range. Final sentencing will be in the hands of the judge.
