The Jasper Rotary Club will be meeting tomorrow and hosting the Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) team from Germany for three days.

This German GSE team includes one Rotarian, two Information Systems Technologists, a physician who specializes in Gynecology, and a Mechanical Engineer. While in the Jasper area, the team will visit Lincoln National Park, the West Baden Springs and French Lick Springs Hotels, some area businesses, and local medical facilities.

The Rotary Foundation’s GSE program is a cultural and vocational opportunity for businessmen and professionals in the 25 to 40 year age group that are in the early stages of their careers. Through travel grants, the program exchanges visits in paired areas of different countries. Over a four to six week period, team members experience the hosting country’s culture and institutions, observe that country’s practices of their vocation, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.

In a typical four-week tour, applicants participate in five full days of vocational visits, 15 to 20 club presentations, 10 to 15 formal visits and social events, 2 to 3 days at the district conference, 3 to 4 hours per day of cultural and site tours, and 3 to 4 hours per day of free time with host families.

The Jasper Rotary Club meets weekly on Thursdays at 11:45 am at the Days Inn Conference Room. For more information or to become a member, contact membership chair Nick Schnarr at 630-0760 or president Tonya Heim at 630-5124.
