A local business was rewarded for its energy-saving efforts in a big way this morning.
Jasper-based Stens, a supplier of parts and accessories for outdoor equipment dealers, distributors, rental companies, golf courses, and forestry companies all over the world, received a rebate check of $25,168 from Energizing Indiana and the Indiana Municipal Power Agency (IMPA). The rebate check for the company is in recognition of its implementation of lights and other improvements to reduce its energy usage.
IMPA Energy Efficiency Manager Dan Worl says the amount of the rebate stood out due to Stens’ efforts to save the energy, but that was just one reason for the grant:
Stens Vice President of Operations Kevin Mair says the award means a lot to not only the company, but to others as well:
Energizing Indiana is a joint effort by participating utilities and consumer organizations to offer comprehensive energy efficiency programs statewide.
Programs include Home Energy Assessments, lighting discounts, and educational programs for schools. Energizing Indiana programs are funded by utility rates. No separate fees are required to participate.
