Several area schools were named Four-Star Schools for 2013 in an announcement yesterday by Indiana Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz.

Jasper High School, Northeast Dubois High School, Cedar Crest Intermediate School, and Ferdinand, Pine Ridge, Holy Family, and Precious Blood elementary schools were all named to the Four Star School list.

Heritage Hills High School as well as Chrisney and Otwell Elementaries also made the Four Star School list for this year.

To achieve a Four Star School designation, a school must rank in the top 25th percentile of schools across the state in ISTEP+ testing scores. A total of 313 schools across Indiana earned the Four Star designation.
