Yesterday, the local economic development group Dubois Strong held their annual meeting and luncheon to celebrate the work of the previous year. The event included a keynote speech from former Indiana Lieutenant Governor and current Radius Indiana president Becky Skillman, as well as remarks from Huntingburg mayor Denny Spinner and Dubois Strong interim president Michael Cummings.
Cummings, who took on the presidency duties in October, talks about his transition into the role of interim president of the organization along with being the organization’s Director of Marketing and Investor Development:
Cummings also talks about what he thinks are the biggest successes of the organization from the last year:
Also yesterday, Dubois Strong presented their Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Josh and Todd Britton of Precision Stone Works Inc., a granite countertop company in St. Henry, received this year’s award during Dubois Strong’s annual meeting. The two brothers started Precision Stone Works back in 2001.
Dubois Strong interim president Michael Cummings cited Precision Stone Works’ contributions to the community as reasoning for the award being presented to them:
Cummings says brain drain has been talked about ad nauseum in rural communities and pointed to the Brittons’ efforts as a powerful story that should be highlighted as an example of success.
