Jasper High School Holds Commencement Friday

A total of 236 students received their diplomas tonight as part of Jasper High School’s Class of 2013.

This year’s class is led by valedictorian Zach Grewe and salutatorian Ethan Whitaker.

A number of members of the JHS Class of 2013 are headed off to secondary education with scholarships. These scholarships range from 500-dollar awards for one year to full-ride scholarships. They include presidential, Lilly Endowment, and local scholarships.

First year principal Brian Wilson says this year’s class was chock full of goal-oriented leaders who led the way in what was a very successful school year at JHS:

This year’s commencement was held in the new Jasper High School gymnasium. The ceremony was the first event to be held in the new gym after being forced to hold festivities in Huntingburg’s Memorial Gym the last two years thanks to the collapse of the former gym’s roof in May of 2011. Wilson says the students are excited about the new facility.

Graduating seniors were given seven tickets for family members and friends. Attendance was limited to family, friends, and supporters of the graduates. A public open house will be held at a later date.
