Indiana Conservation Officers and the Indiana Department of Environmental Management are investigating a fish kill in Knox County.

Four Lakes, which is a three-quarter acre pond along Wilbur Street in Vincennes, has seen approximately 50-100 fish be found dead in the pond following treatment for algae last week.

Last Thursday, a city of Vincennes employee applied a small amount of copper sulfate in the pond to aid in controlling algae buildup. Copper sulfate is commonly used to help keep ponds clean and have a neat appearance.

Bluegill, croppie, and carp were among the fish found dead in the pond. The investigation is ongoing.
