An ATV accident near Duff Sunday evening resulted in a Jasper man being transported to a regional hospital.
Indiana Conservation Officers say 24-year-old Daniel Hedinger of Jasper was riding his ATV along County Road 450 South near Duff at approximately 9 pm Sunday evening when the accident took place.
Officers say Hedinger’s ATV failed to negotiate a curve along the road and ran off of the roadway, hitting a gravel pile and throwing Hedinger off of the machine.
Despite being injured, Hedinger was able to ride on to an area residence for medical assistance where 9-1-1 was called.
Hedinger was transported to Memorial Hospital in Jasper for leg and internal injuries. He was later airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville for further treatment.
The accident remains under investigation and alcohol appears to be a factor according to conservation officers. The case will be turned over to the Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration on alcohol charges at the completion of the Conservation Officers’ investigation.
Dubois County Sheriff’s deputies, Ireland First Responders, and Dubois County EMS all assisted at the scene.
