A Schnellville man has recently been bestowed with a First Responder’s Hero Award.

Dave Mitchell of Schnellville was awarded the American Red Cross First Responders Hero Award during the Heroes Awards Banquet held in Evansville.

This award honors local heroes that have gone above and beyond to help those in need across the community.

Dave MitchellMitchell began working part-time in Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s Ambulance Services in June 1999 as a Basic Emergency Medical Technician. A year later he was at it full-time.

As recommendations for national standards of Emergency Medical Services were adpoted statewaide, Mitchell helped initiate the first paramedic training and operational program at Memorial.

Mitchell is a paramedic and firefighter with the Schnellville Volunteer Fire Department. He assists with Fire Prevention Week at Pine Ridge Elementary School and serves on the Schnellville Centennial Food Committee.

Mitchell currently serves as Clinical Manager of Memorial Hospital’s Ambulance Services. He is currently working on his Associate Degree in Management, with plans to become a certified Ambulance Service Manager.
