Two Springville men were arrested over the weekend following an investigation into a string of burglaries.
Martin County Sheriff’s officials recieved a report from Sandy Hettle of Indian Springs that someone had just tried to break in to their home and that Hettle’s son had chased the male suspect away. When the man turned to run away, he fell almost ten feet and was seen limping into a red pickup with another male and possibly a female in the truck. The neighborhood soon had reported six burglaries and Lawrence County authorities had also recieved calls of thefts as well.
During a search of the burglarized properties conducted by Indiana State Police, the vehicle was found in the Springville area with 30-year-old Jeremy Wiley and 34-year-old Steven Wiley in the vehicle. A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and the Wiley residence, where items including firearms and a motorcycle were found along with other property that was believed to have been stolen.
Both Jeremy and Steven Wiley were lodged at the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office on numerous charges of burglary and theft. Both men will also face similar charges in Martin County.
