Three Injured, Two Airlifted to Regional Hospital After Violent Crash

An accident near Sultan’s Run Golf Course in Jasper yesterday afternoon resulted in three people being injured and two people being transported to a regional hospital.

Dubois County Sheriff’s deputies say 24-year-old Ashley Dunn of Jasper was traveling eastbound on 15th Street approaching the intersection with Meridian Road at 2:20 pm yesterday afternoon when deputies say she lost control of her vehicle while attempting to stop at the intersection. Dunn’s vehicle slid on the wet pavement and collided with a vehicle driven by 63-year-old Josie Wilson of Indianapolis, who was traveling northbound on Meridian Road and was attempting to turn left onto 15th Street.

Wilson had to be extricated from her vehicle by Jasper Fire Department First Responders following the crash. Wilson and a passenger in the vehicle, 40-year-old Hollie Wilson of Indianapolis, were transported to Memorial Hospital for treatment. Josie Wilson complained of pain in her neck, back, and hip and Hollie Wilson complained of pain in her neck and chest areas. Both were set to be transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville for further treatment. Dunn complained of a bump on her head, but refused treatment at the scene. Two passengers in Dunn’s vehicle, 19-year-old Ryan Autry of Jasper and a 3-year-old child in the backseat of the vehicle were uninjured. The child was properly strapped into a child restraining seat at the time of the crash.

Wilson’s car was totaled in the crash while Dunn’s car sustained $2,500 worth of damage.

Dunn will be cited for speed too fast for the conditions, no operator’s license, and a driving while license suspended infraction. The accident remains under investigation.

Dubois County Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by the Jasper Police Department, the Jasper Fire Department, Memorial Hospital EMS, and Ruxer’s wrecker service.
