Throughout the last year as the Interstate 67 Development Corporation made a push towards the construction of I-67 to connect Dubois County to Interstate 69, one of the biggest supporters of the project has been Indiana Lt. Governor and Ferdinand native Sue Ellspermann.
Ellspermann says the efforts of the I-67 Development Corporation have been tremendous and something to be proud of:
From her perspective as someone who is from Dubois County, Ellspermann says should the highway be built, the benefits to her home county economically as well as for the quality of life for citizens will be tremendous:
Ellspermann also says having an interstate highway in Dubois County would be key to attracting business as businesses look for towns and cities that are near interstates:
Earlier this year, the I-67 Development Corporation made a trip to Washington, DC to meet with lawmakers, including District 8 Representative Larry Bucshon and Indiana Senators Dan Coats and Joe Donnelly.
Several area entities, including the cities of Jasper and Huntingburg as well as economic development group Dubois Strong, have pledged their support for the project.
