Ferdinand Dirt Biker Flees Police, Faces Charges

A man riding a dirt bike through Ferdinand on Saturday is now facing charges after fleeing from police.

Dubois County Sheriff’s deputies say 22-year-old Alex Knies of Ferdinand was riding his dirt bike through Ferdinand during the day on Saturday when a sheriff’s deputy went to pull him over. Knies fled southbound on County Road 475 East and went onto farm property after passing Convent Road. Knies and the motorcycle were lost after going about a mile off of the roadway.

Knies was located at his house in the 8700 block of Club Road in Ferdinand at about 6:30 pm on Saturday after anonymous tips from the public. He will be brought to court on a Class D felony for resisting law enforcement with a motor vehicle.
