A Daviess County community now has a new railroad transportation hub.

Late last week, the Indiana Railroad officially opened a new loading facility just outside of the town of Odon.

The new hub will combine rail and road traffic to help companies in the area with transportation needs.

The project will allow for a place to transfer freight to and from trucks and trains. The new facility is also located just four miles from Interstate 69.

At this point, officials say there are no full-time jobs available for the new operation, but the plant opens up opportunities for businesses in the area to grow and prosper.

The Indiana Railroad is currently working on 10 acres, but there is an option for another seven acres for expansion of warehousing opportunities at the site, thus adding jobs.
