An accident in a gas station parking lot early yesterday morning led to the arrest of a Jasper man on operating while intoxicated charges.
Jasper Police were called to the Circle A FoodMart parking lot at about 6:30 am yesterday morning after an accident in the parking lot.
Police say 60-year-old Richard Cox had parked his vehicle to go inside the gas station. However, he forgot to put his vehicle in park and ignored a warning shout from a witness at the scene. His car rolled into the bumper of a parked vehicle owned by Charles Bundy of French Lick. The witness told Bundy about the incident and Bundy’s vehicle was found to have a small indent in the rear bumper where the front bumper of Cox’s vehicle was still touching it. The witness called police to the scene and police determined that Cox was intoxicated. His BAC registered at .19 percent(more than twice the legal limit).
Cox was lodged in the Dubois County Security Center on charges of Operating While Intoxicated. Both vehicles were unoccupied at the time of the incident and there were no injuries.
