Capsized Canoe in Crawford County Leaves Couple Stranded

Indiana Conservation Officers continue their investigation of a canoe capsizing that took place in Crawford County and left a couple stranded on Friday evening.

Shortly after 8 pm on Friday, Crawford County Dispatch reported a missing female on Blue River near Milltown. Conservation officers along with others went to the scene along East White Road in Crawford County. Conservation officers say 48-year-old Alisa Fink and 47-year-old Sean Falvey, both of Louisville, were canoeing along Blue River between Totten Ford and Milltown when the canoe they were in capsized. Fink and Falvey were separated along opposite sides of the river and could not retrieve the canoe. Falvey hiked along the Harrison County side of the river and made contact with a landowner. The landowner took Falvey back to Milltown where he notified authorities.

Fink and the family dog were found uninjured around 11:15 pm Friday night approximately 4 and 1/2 miles upstream from Milltown. Conservation Officers say they were able to pinpoint her location after hearing her yelling for help.

The Crawford County Sheriff’s Department, the Milltown Police Department, and the Milltown Volunteer Fire Department all assisted at the scene.
