On Sunday, the Celestine Volunteer Fire Department will be holding its tractor and truck pull.
The event will take place at the Celestine Community Club in the 7700 block of Ellsworth Road. The classes of vehicle in this year’s event will include antique tractors, pure farm tractors, limited pro trucks, and street stock trucks.
Some of the general rules for this year’s event include the following:
1) Maximum height of 20 inches on the hitch 18 inches from the center axle
2) No cut tires allowed
3) Must weigh in before and after each pull
4) Tractor number must face judge’s stand at all times.
Rules are subject to change and the judge’s decisions are final. In the antique class, the winner gets 90 dollars and a trophy while the runner-up gets 60 dollars and a trophy. Prizes for third, fourth, and fifth place finishes are 50, 35, and 20 dollars respectively. For the pure farm tractors, payouts range from $140 for first place down to $35 for fifth place in the 12000 no turbo 13000 class and $90 for first place to $15 for fifth place in the 5000 class. Street stock truck payouts will be $80 plus a trophy for first place and $55 plus a trophy to the runner-up. Third through fifth place prizes will be $40, $25, and $15, respectively.
