A Birdseye man was arrested yesterday evening after he was found inside of a residence where he didn’t belong.
Dubois County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence in the 9900 block of East State Road 64 near Birdseye around 5:50 pm last night on a report of a male subject that broke into a woman’s residence. The female resident told police that she came home and found a man, identified as Donald Reiner, making himself at home inside of the residence. The woman told police she told Reiner to get out of the house and she immediately left the residence and called 9-1-1. Deputies did not find Reiner at the residence upon her arrival, but did find him in a field about 100 yards to the west of the residence. Deputies say Reiner appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance.
Reiner was taken into custody and lodged in the Dubois County Security Center. He is facing Class D felony counts for Residential Entry and Theft, along with a Class B felony for burglary.
As mentioned a moment ago, Reiner is also a suspect in a string of vehicle break-ins that took place in the Birdseye area overnight on Wednesday. Anyone with information on the vehicle break-ins is asked to call the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department at 482-3522. All callers may remain anonymous.
