A key Dubois County intersection that’s been under construction for several months is taking a big step towards completion this afternoon.
Starting after 1 pm this afternoon, the intersection of State Road 162 and State Road 64, more commonly known as the Bretzville Junction, will have its new traffic signal activated. The new signals will flash red only for the first few days, indicating the intersection will remain as a four-way stop for the immediate future.
INDOT Spokeswoman Cher Elliott says the project is moving along rather smoothly. She says the finishing touches will be put on the intersection next week:
Elliott says getting this project completed is a big step for motorists using the intersection on a day-to-day basis as well as when events such as the 4H fair come to town:
Lutgring Brothers of Tell City won the $1 million contract for the work at the intersection. The work will include the addition of dedicated left turn lanes for north and southbound traffic on State Road 162.
