Jasper Police: Department Able to Assist with Child Seats

Jasper Police want to remind everyone that the department is a Permanent Fitting Station for child passenger safety equipment.

The department says officers Michael Stallman, Jason Knies, Brian Lampert, and Greg Brescher are all certified as Child Passenger Safety Technicians and are able to assist child caregivers, parents, and grandparents with installation of and any questions concerning car safety seats for children.

Jasper assistant police chief Nathan Schmitt says the ability to assist with child safety seats has gone over well in the community:

Jasper Police say Indiana law requires that children under the age of 8 are required to be in an approved child safety seat. The department serves as one of 122 Permanent Fitting Stations for child passenger safety equipment across the state.

The service is provided free of charge by the department. Child caregivers, parents, and grandparents can contact any of the aforementioned officers with questions about child safety seat laws or to make an appointment to have their child seat inspected for proper installation and fit to the child.

The numbers to call are 482-2255 or 482-2288.
