Three local high school marching bands kicked off their competition seasons Saturday at the Evansville Central Invitational.

The Southridge Marching Raiders placed fifth out of six bands in Class C, while Forest Park’s Marching Rangers received third place out of three participating bands in Class D. The Forest Park color guard won the award for best auxiliary in the class. Jasper’s Marching Wildcats received a second-place rating in Class B against Castle and also received an award for best drum major.

Jasper will travel to Paoli High School for an invitational contest Saturday. The band will perform at 9:34 pm. Meanwhile, Southridge goes to North Posey High School for the Field of Dreams Invitational.

Forest Park will not compete this weekend. Northeast Dubois and Heritage Hills do not begin their competition seasons until Sept. 28.
