A water main break shut down a major street in the city of Huntingburg for a short time this morning.

Huntingburg mayor Denny Spinner says a water main along Washington Street between 6th and 9th Streets in Huntingburg broke early this morning, which caused a brief shutdown of the road. Water department crews are still on the scene and the road has since been reopened to traffic. There is no word on when the break will be fixed and city officials say residents should use caution when driving through the area.

In the meantime, a boil advisory is in effect for residents along Washington Street between 6th and 9th Streets. City officials recommend that residents in the area bring all cooking and drinking water to a complete boil for 5 minutes before using.
