A Dale woman was injured following an accident in rural Dubois County yesterday evening.

Dubois County Sheriff’s deputies say 20-year-old Carlisha Dooley of Dale was northbound on County Road 600 East just north of County Road 750 East just after 6 pm last night when the accident took place. Deputies say Carlisha told them that she became distracted by her cell phone. She told deputies that once she looked back up at the road, her vehicle was traveling off of the east side of the roadway. Her car traveled more than 600 feet while off of the roadway, hit a REC utility pole and came to rest in a ditch. Dooley’s vehicle lost its right rear tire in the crash.

Dooley complained of ankle and head pain. She was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Her car was totalled in the crash and she was cited for speed too fast to avoid a collision.

Deputies were assisted by Ferdinand Police, Indiana State Police, Ferdinand Fire Department, Memorial EMS, and Hasenour Motor.
