Plans for the future continue to fall into place for the city of Jasper.

Last night, the Jasper City Council heard a presentation from Louisville-based CityVisions on future development in the city. Several areas were highlighted in the presentation, including vacant buildings, connection possibilities for streets, and riverfront development.

Jasper mayor Terry Seitz says the city has done well to this point with its comprehensive plan:

Additionally, the presentation shed more light on the historical significance of the wood industry in Jasper. Seitz says the industry led to high employment in not just Jasper, but Dubois County as a whole. He says that is something to be proud of:

Another element that was part of last night’s presentation was the growth of art in the city as part of the plan. Seitz says the advice of CityVisions on this point was quite clear:

A public hearing is set for a future planning commission meeting where items from last night’s presentation will be discussed in greater detail.
