Collective bargaining negotiations have ended successfully for teachers in the North Spencer School Corporation.

Superintendent Dan Scherry says the teachers will be receiving a 1 percent raise across the board with the potential for further stipends of up to 2.8 percent under the new deal. Scherry says that money would come from performance grants.

By using the performance grants, Scherry says those teachers who have bachelor’s degrees will qualify for increases of $377 and stipends of $1,067 while teachers with master’s degrees are eligible for $555 increases with eligibility for stipends of $465. However, Scherry says not all teachers will receive the incentive. He says the 1 percent is the total amount of money currently available compared to the amount that the corporation is already spending on teacher salaries.
