A local university is set to announce a new partnership with area businesses for the benefit of students.
Vincennes University Jasper Campus and seven local manufacturing companies are planning to announce a new programming initiative at 1:30 tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon at the campus’ Center for Technology, Innovation and Manufacturing.
The school plans to enter into a new partnership with the seven companies to create an associate’s degree program with training opportunities. Students who are chosen for the program will work part time at one of the companies while attending classes at the center. The announcement will include the signing of a memorandum of understanding creating the partnership.
Representatives from Indiana Furniture Industries, Jasper Engines & Transmissions, Jasper Rubber, Kimball International (including its electronics and office divisions), MasterBrand Cabinets, OFS Brands and Wabash Valley Produce plan to be on hand along with a representative from Project Lead the Way’s national office.
State Representative Mark Messmer of Jasper, VU President Dick Helton and VUJC Dean Alan Johnson will also take part in the announcement.
