Executive director of the Indiana 15 Regional Planning Commission, Lisa Gehlhausen was honored with the Sagamore of the Wabash Award last month. The Sagamore of the Wabash is one of the highest honors awarded by the governor of Indiana.
Gehlhausen received the award at Indiana 15’s 40th anniversary celebration in October. She’s been a part of Indiana 15 since 1978 and became its executive director in 2004. She was nominated for the award by State Sen. Richard Young of Milltown, because of her years of service to the commission, which is a quasi-governmental agency that serves Dubois, Spencer, Pike, Crawford, Orange and Perry counties.
A lifelong resident of Jasper, Lisa and her husband, Gary, have three children.
Gelhausen is one of two Dubois County residents to be bestowed with the award in the last couple of months. Earlier this week Ferdinand Town Council President Ken Sicard was presented with the Indiana Sagamore of the Wabash by Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann in honor of his contributions to the Ferdinand community during the Ferdinand chamber of commerce annual dinner Wednesday night.
