Two Injured in Jasper Crash

An accident in Jasper yesterday afternoon resulted in both drivers suffering injuries.

Jasper Police say 61-year-old Thomas Herbig of Jasper and 69-year-old Ruth Phillips of Boonville were both northbound on Newton Street near the intersection with Reyling Drive at 1:15 yesterday afternoon. Police say Phillips was stopped in a line of traffic at the intersection of Newton Street and Reyling Drive. Herbig was following too closely according to police and could not stop, running into the back of Phillips’ vehicle.

Herbig complained of chest pain while Phillips complained of knee and back pain. Both refused EMS treatment at the scene. Both cars sustained 5 thousand dollars worth of damage in the crash.

Herbig was cited for following too closely.
