Officials with the Jasper Street Department say department crews have been working throughout the day to remove ice and debris from city streets that have been closed because of high waters that resulted from last weekend’s heavy rains.
The department says both West 2nd Street between Clay and US 231 and South Clay between West 2nd Street and Wernsing Road are now open.
Motorists are asked to use a bit of caution in these areas as the area has been treated with salt but remains slick in some spots as the salt need a little time to melt thru.
Additionally, the Indiana Department of Transportation says State Road 161 between State Road 66 and State Road 62 in Spencer County has now been reopened. Several roads in our area do remain closed due to flooding and these are:
SR 58, from SR 67 to SR 57
SR 358, from SR 67 Edwardsport to SR57 Plainville
SR 257, from US 50 Washington to SR 356 Otwell
SR 157, from SR 54 Bloomfield to SR 67 Worthington
Martin & Lawrence County
SR 450, from US 50 Shoals to SR 158 Bedford
SR 56, from SR 145 to US 150
SR 66 from SR 166 Rocky Point to SR 70 Derby
