A Jasper woman was taken to the hospital following an accident on the city’s north side yesterday morning.

Just after 11:45 am yesterday, Jasper Police say 44-year-old Paul Freeman and 28-year-old Leanna Vinson were both driving northbound along Newton Street just south of Schuetter Road when Vinson slowed for traffic in front of her. Police say Freeman was not able to slow down in time and ran into the back of Vinson’s vehicle.

A passenger in Freeman’s vehicle (49-year-old Jody Huff of Jasper) complained of chest pain and was taken to Memorial Hospital for treatment. Freeman and Vinson were not injured. Damage to Freeman’s truck was estimated at 15 hundred dollars while Vinson’s vehicle sustained about 35 hundred dollars in damages.

Freeman was cited for following too closely and for not having auto insurance.
