Officials with the Dubois County Health Department will be hosting a medical training exercise coming up next week.
Next Wednesday, the department will be holding the exercise for testing of its response to the Medical Countermeasures Dispensing Plan. The exercise is set to be held from 8 to 11:30 am next Wednesday at Jasper Middle School.
Now during any public health emergency, the health department may need to provide antibiotics or vaccines at point of dispensing (POD) locations. The POD’s sole purpose is to distribute medicines to large numbers of people in an emergency as quickly as possible to prevent illness. Public health emergencies can range from a large scale disease outbreak to a bioterrorism event.
Anyone who wishes to volunteer for the training is asked to call the Dubois County Health Department at 481-7050. Additionally, the health department office will be closed between 8 am and noon next Wednesday in order for this training to take place.
