Jasper Man Arrested After Leaving Scene of Accident

A Jasper man landed in jail after he left the scene of a property damage accident.

Jasper Police were called to an area along Newton Street near the Wendy’s on Jasper’s north side just before 5:40 pm yesterday on a report of an accident. They say 24-year-old Mark Scott was exiting the Mark ScottTaco Bell parking lot when the front of his car hit the front of a vehicle driven by 49-year-old Kristina Dalton of Jasper who was northbound on Newton Street waiting to turn left.

Scott left the scene and police later found his vehicle on Alois Court. Scott admitted to officers that he was the driver of the vehicle. During the investigation, Scott was found to be intoxicated with a BAC of .11 percent.

Scott was lodged in the Dubois County Security Center. He is facing charges for OWI and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

There were no injuries in the accident. Damage to Scott’s vehicle was estimated at 200 dollars while Dalton’s vehicle sustained about 14 hundred dollars worth of damage.
