Driving under the influence and not cooperating with authorities landed a Dubois man behind bars yesterday.
At 8:20 pm, a Jasper police officer observed a vehicle being driven by 42-year-old Jeromy Perkins travelling westbound on 6th Street, but driving left of center. After he was pulled over by the officer, Perkins failed standard field sobriety tests and was found to be intoxicated. The officer also found an open container in the vehicle and Perkins was found to have never had a driver’s license.
Perkins then refused to do a PBT or a certified blood test. He was taken to Memorial Hospital for a blood draw, but he urinated on himself and splashed urine on members of the hospital staff.
Perkins was lodged in the Dubois County Security Center. He is charged with operating while intoxicated, OWI refusal, battery by bodily fluid, disorderly conduct, and operator never licensed.
