Ireland Crash Injures 2

Minor injuries were the result of a 2 car crash near Ireland yesterday.

Just after 5:35 pm, Dubois County Sheriff’s deputies say 67-year-old Charles Blunk of Jasper was westbound along State Road 56 at the intersection with County Road 500 West. Blunk told deputies he thought he had the green light but he couldn’t see the light due to the sun. Blunk’s vehicle hit the driver’s side of a vehicle driven by 15-year-old Emily Biggs of Jasper, who was southbound on County Road 500 West and had tried to go through the intersection after they told deputies that they had the green light.

Biggs and a passenger in her vehicle (Brian Biggs) complained of pain, but refused treatment at the scene. A second passenger in Biggs’ vehicle (Zoe Biggs) and Blunk were not injured. Blunk’s vehicle sustained 4 thousand dollars worth of damage, though he was able to drive away from the scene. Biggs’ vehicle sustained 7 thousand dollars worth of damage and had to be towed from the scene according to deputies. This accident remains under investigation.

Memorial Hospital EMS, Ireland First Responders, and a wrecker from Blesch Sales and Service also assisted.
