Sister Brenda Englert, 93, of Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, died at 1:40 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at the monastery’s Hildegard Health Center.
Sister Brenda was born November 4, 1921 in St. Anthony, Indiana, the fifth of 6 children of Jacob and Sarah (Jahn) Englert. She entered the Sisters of St. Benedict of Ferdinand in 1952 and made her profession of monastic vows in 1954.
She is survived by a brother, Bernard of Jasper; nieces and nephews; and members of her religious community. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Harold; and three sisters, Hilda Staab Whaley, Aurelia Reteneller, and Bernadette Englert.
Sister Brenda was a teacher at Haubstadt (St. James), Mount Vernon, Rockport, St. Anthony, and St. Joseph in Evansville. She also taught religious education at Vincennes (St. Thomas) and at Dale (St. Joseph Parish) and has worked in various support services within the monastery. She most recently served in prayer ministry.
Visitation will be at the monastery on Monday, June 8, from 3 to 7 p.m. EDT, and on Tuesday, June 9, from 2 to 4:15 p.m. A wake service will be on Monday at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. in the monastery church followed by burial in the monastery cemetery.

Bertha Josephine Wiederkehr, 93 of St. Meinrad passed away Thursday June 4th at Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper. Bertha was born in St. Meinrad, Indiana on July 19, 1921 to Christ & Frances (Dumolt) Wigger. She married Francis G. Wiederkehr on November 8, 1941 in St. Meinrad Archabbey Church. He preceded her in death on December 17, 1990.
Bertha enjoyed reading, gardening, sewing, cooking and her grandchildren. She was a lifelong member of St. Meinrad Parish and it’s Ladies Sodality, a member of Twin Lakes Homemakers Club. She was a homemaker most of her life, but was employed in the sewing department at Best Chairs for several years. She had an infectious laugh and enjoyed family & friends.
She is survived by 2 sons, James Wiederkehr and his wife Letty of Dearing, GA. & John Wiederkehr of St. Meinrad. 3 daughters, Martha Miller and husband Earl of Tell City, Joyce Kline of Leopold, and Mildred Highfill and husband Charlie of St. Meinrad. One sister, Lucille Gunter of Forest Park, GA. 5 grandchildren, James S. Wiederkehr, Pat and Frank Miller, Valerie Cronin, and Amy Aders. 9 great-grandchildren, Jamie, Tyler, and Angel Wiederkehr, Cecelia Miller, Troy and Trent Cronin, Jacob Vinson, Morgan Hessig, and Ashtin Aders. 1 great great grandchild, Madelyn Cronin.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Hubert Wigger, three sisters, Ann Engelke, Ida Ritzi, and Lena Gogel, one grandson, Jody Hochenberry, and one great grandson, Travis Cronin.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM EDT Monday in St. Meinrad Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. James “Jim” David DeCoursey, age 69, of Huntingburg, passed away at 12:03 a.m., on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at his residence.
He was born July 9, 1945 in Bicknell, Indiana, to Everett and Martha (Clemmons) DeCoursey. He married Damona Brown on May 8, 1976 at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ in Lamar. Jim worked as a radiology technologist at the former St. Joseph’s Hospital in Huntingburg and then as a manufacturer’s representative for OFS Brands. He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ, where he served as a past church council president; member of the Y.M.I. Club and Optimist Club; and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Jane DeCoursey.

Henrietta “Sis” Ruxer, age 88 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday (June 2, 2015) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.
Sis was born in St. Anthony, IN on October 11, 1926 to Hubert and Mary (Durcholz) Sternberg. She married Oliver Ruxer on April 12, 1947 in St. Anthony Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on May 23, 2006.
Sis was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, the St. Joseph’s St. Ann’s Society, the Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella, and the VFW Post #673 Auxiliary.
She enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors, listening to sports, and spending time with friends, family, and family pets.

James “Jim” Ridenour, age 82, of Huntingburg, passed away at 10:20 p.m., on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
He was born October 2, 1932 in Redkey, Indiana, to Charles Calvin and Dorothy Ridenour. Jim worked at Southern Indiana Resource Solutions (S.I.R.S.) and loved to collect baseball cards. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Charles Ridenour; and two sisters, Norma Jean Ridenour and Janet Sue Ridenour.

Karen R. Luegers, age 65, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 1:11 a.m. on Sunday (May 31, 2015) at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper, Indiana.
Karen was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin on October 7, 1949 to David and Grace (Nelson) Hill. She married Robert T. Luegers on October 20, 1984 in Providence Home Chapel in Jasper.
She owned and operated First Edition Interior Design Company for many years.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and she was past president of the Kiwanis Club.
