James H. Kloeck, 69, of St. Meinrad passed away May 19, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. James was born August 16, 1945 in St. Meinrad to Xavier and Lorena (Rupprecht) Kloeck. James was retired from the Abbey Press. He was a member of Saint Meinrad American Legion Post 366, Saint Meinrad K of C and Saint Meinrad Catholic Church Parish. James was an avid reader, fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Indiana University Sports.

James is survived by four sisters, Theresa Wahl of Evansville, Sr. Vera Kloeck, Edwina Wahl and husband Leo, Betty Knust and husband Jim all of Ferdinand; sister in law, Marta Kloeck of Ferdinand; one brother, Tom M. Kloeck and wife Sarah of Saint Meinrad; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and Francis Kloeck; two nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 CDT Friday, May 22, 2015 at Saint Meinrad Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Saint Meinrad American Legion Post 366 will conduct military graveside rights. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 AM CDT until time of service at the church. Gilbert Steckler, 87, of St. Henry died Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at his home. He was born April 18, 1928 to Henry and Josephine (Angermeier) Steckler in St. James, IN. Gilbert married Mary Gries October 16, 1948 in St. Wendel Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on February 1, 2009. Their growing family moved to St. Henry in 1958 where Gilbert continued his lifelong vocation as a dairy farmer until his retirement in 1992. Gilbert was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, Catholic Knights of America and National Farmers Organization. Gilbert and his wife Mary were former recipients of the Brute’ Award. He enjoyed horses, antique equipment, family and especially grandkids.

Gilbert is survived by nine sons, Allen and wife Martha, Jerry and wife Marsha, Dave and wife Linda, Greg and wife Julie, Paul and Kenny all of St. Henry, Mike and wife Margie and Mark and wife Colette all of Huntingburg, Stan and wife Martha of Leopold; eight daughters, Carol Jean Niehaus and husband David, Elaine Morris and husband John, Janet Theiring and husband Nathan all of Newburg, Donna Dilger and husband Vernon of St. Wendel, Norma Blackgrove and husband Joe of Huntingburg, Karen Woodside and husband Garry of St. James, Linda Schwinghammer and husband Greg of St. Henry and Lori Tischendorf and husband Terry of Santa Claus; three brothers, Joe, Harold and Donnie of St. James; six sisters, Margaret Ramsey of Texas, Mary Seib of Huntingburg, Betty Lefler of Francisco, Patricia Jackson and Kathy Ising of Evansville, Jean Martin of Newburg; Ninety-four grandchildren and Ninety-seven great-grandchildren.

Gilbert was preceded to eternal life by his wife of 60 years, Mary; a granddaughter, Melissa Steckler; two daughter-in-laws, Margaret and Becky Steckler; three brothers, Edwardn Oscar and Lewis; four sisters, Ester Gries, Sr. Mary Ester, Viola Scheller and Irma Bender. Visitation will be from 2:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday at St. Henry Catholic Church and Friday from 8:00 until service time at the church. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated beginning at 10:00 AM Friday with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Alan E. Schwartz, age 76, of Huntingburg, passed away at 1:22 a.m., on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at his residence.

He was born April 23, 1939 in Huntingburg, Indiana, to Arthur P. “A.P.” and Mildred (Hull) Schwartz.  He married Cara Lee Buschkill on July 11, 1964 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Evansville.  Mr. Schwartz retired from NCR Corp where he worked as a District Sales Manager.  He was a member of Central Christian Church in Huntingburg and Sigma Phi Epsilon at Indiana State University.  Alan was preceded in death by his wife, Cara Lee Schwartz, who passed away November 26, 2013; two brothers, Stanley Schwartz and Arnold Schwartz; one sister, Ruth Esarey; and one niece, Sherrie Schwartz.

Hilda T. Ebert, 92, of Ferdinand, passed away, Sunday, May 17, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper. Hilda was born April 16, 1923 in Adeyville, IN. to Joseph and Catherine (Jacob) Schaefer. Hilda married Othmar J. Ebert on May 22, 1945 in St. Meinrad. Othmar passed away on August 19, 2014.

Hilda is survived by one son, Sylvan Ebert and wife Linda of Greenwood, IN.; four daughters, Norma Murray and husband Jim of Kokomo, Diane Balbach and husband David of Dale, Sandy Meyer and husband Steve of Lexington, KY., Terri Carson and husband Jeff of Carmel, IN.; a son-in-law, Gene Braunecker of Huntingburg; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive. Hilda was preceded in death her husband Othmar; a daughter Marlene Braunecker; five brothers, Raymond, Robert, Hilbert, Richard and Othmar Schaefer.

Hilda was a homemaker and helped her husband work on the family farm. She was a member of the St. Meinrad American Legion Auxiliary, Saint Ferdinand Church Parish and Daughters of Isabella. Hilda was also a member of Ferdinand Senior Citizens. She was an avid reader who enjoyed making quilts and playing cards.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM and Thursday from 7:00 until 9:30 AM at Becher Funeral Home in Ferdinand. Lilly Dawn “Willy” Leistner, one year old infant, of Taswell, Indiana, was pronounced deceased at 11:45 a.m., on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 in the emergency room of I.U. Health Paoli Hospital in Paoli, Indiana.

Lilly was born April 24, 2014 in Harrison County, Indiana, to Wesley Hembree and Hailey Leistner.  She was preceded in death by her great grandmother, Brenda “Crazy Granny” Doyle; and great aunt, Tiffany Dawn Burgdorf.

Seger, Lila M.
Lila Lee Seger, age 90, of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 1:10 a.m. on Wednesday (May 13, 2015) at home.

Lila was born in Jasper, Indiana on March 12, 1925, to Cyril “Snap” and Lucille (Krodel) Giesler.  She married Jerome F. Seger on August 21, 1947 in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper.  He preceded her in death on July 16, 2003.

Lila was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, Tri Kappa,  Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority, OLGA Golf Association, Jasper Country Club 18 Hole Golf Association, Jasper Raquet Club, and was a substitute teacher in the Jasper School System.

She held the unofficial record for attending the most sporting events in Jasper as mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Irma Kluemper-Mundy

Irma V. Kluemper-Mundy, age 69 of Bretzville, Indiana, passed away at 7:42 p.m. CDT on Tuesday (May 12, 2015) at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, Indiana.

Irma was born in Ferdinand Indiana on February 16, 1946 to Joseph C. and Mathilda (Schulthies) Braunecker.  She married Cyril H. Mundy on October 12, 2001.  He preceded her in death on December 27, 2013.

Irma worked for Towns Promotions for 15 years as the executive salesperson.  She was later self employed as a pre-school teacher for Bright Kids Prechool for seven years.

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Indiana, and a member of the Ferdinand Senior Citizens.

She enjoyed gardening, attending sporting events and spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.
