Virlee M. Schwartz, age 77, of Huntingburg, passed away at 5:35 p.m., on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

She was born January 9, 1938 in St. Anthony, Indiana, to Emil and Anna (Metz) Wessel.  She married Urban Schwartz on November 7, 1959 in Schnellville.  Virlee was a farmer and also worked at Jasper Wood Products.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; an antique car enthusiast; enjoyed collecting antiques; and loved her pets.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Urban Schwartz, who passed away March 5, 1992; and one sister, Rose Ann Pund.

She is survived by:

One brother-in-law,

Francis Pund of St. Anthony, IN,

and by nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Virlee Schwartz will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.S.T., on Thursday, February 26, 2015at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Huntingburg.

Kerr, Suzanne
Suzanne M.A. Kerr, age 49, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 12:45 a.m. on Friday (February 20, 2015) at home.
 
Suzanne was born on December 15, 1965 to Dan and Joy (Bentley) Voight.  She married John Kerr III on August 15, 1985.
 
Suzanne was a Real Estate Broker for many years.
 
She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
 
She enjoyed gardening, spending time in the outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.

Merilee D. Bishop, 85, of Santa Claus, passed away, February 17th at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand. Merilee was born February 26, 1929 in Dallas County, Missouri to Abner and Dorothy (Austin) Dill. Merilee was owner and operator of The Frame Up in Mt. Vernon TX. She was a former teacher in a one room schoolhouse in Dallas County, Missouri. Merilee enjoyed cross stitching, caring for her plants and was an avid reader.

Merilee is survived by one son, Darren Laughlin of Santa Claus;
one daughter,Gayle Ann Laughlin of Aloha, OR.;
one brother, Jim Dill of Peculiar, MO.;
one sister Gayle Dill of Springfield, MO.;
four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Merilee was preceded in death by a son, George Laughlin.

Janelia Jahn
Janelia E. “Janie” Jahn, age 90 of St. Anthony, Indiana, passed away at 9:55 a.m. on Thursday (February 19, 2015) in Memorial Hospital Health Care Campus in Jasper, Indiana.
Janelia was born on August 19, 1924 in Rockport, Indiana to Ben and Anna (Miller) Kappner.  She married Linus H. Jahn on August 9, 1952 St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg, Indiana.  He preceded her in death on December 18, 2003.
She was a homemaker and a cook at St. Anthony Community Center for many years.
She was member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, the St. Anthony Christian Mothers, and the St. Anthony Community Center.
She enjoyed doing puzzles, cooking, caring for her dogs, and spending time with her family. She was also an Indiana University basketball fan.

Funeral services for Janelia E. “Janie” Jahn will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday (February 23), 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Indiana, with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday (February 22, 2015) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at the church.  The St. Anthony Christian Mothers will have a prayer service at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wallhauser, Marie1
Marie E. Wallhauser, age 81 of St. Anthony, Indiana, passed away at 7:57 a.m. on Monday (February 16, 2015) at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand, Indiana.
 
Marie was born on January 17, 1934 in Celestine Indiana to Anthony and Elizabeth (Lorey) Schepers.  She married Albert G. Wallhauser on June 20, 1959 in St. Celestine Catholic Church in Celestine, IN.  He preceded her in death on October 26, 2005.  
 
She was a homemaker and worked with her husband on their family farm for many years.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
 
She enjoyed quilting and embroidery.

Funeral services for Marie E. Wallhauser will be held at 11:00 a.m.  on Friday (February 20, 2015) at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony, Indiana, with burial to follow in the Church Cemetery.

77-year old Dorothy Hessig of St. Meinrad passed away Monday at Scenic Hills Care Center in Ferdinand.

She is survived by

2 sons,

Mike Hessig of Liberty, N.C.

and Dave Hessig of Ferdinand.

2 daughters,

Diane King of Huntingburg

and Beverly Beier of St. Meinrad.

3 brothers, 3 sisters, 14 grandchildren ,12 great-grandchildren & 2 step-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for 77-year old Dorothy Hessig of St. Meinrad will be held at 10 AM CDT Thursday in St. Meinrad Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 till 8 PM CDT Wednesday at Becher Funeral Home, Ferdinand, and after 9 AM CDT Thursday at the church.

Funeral services for 48-year Shaune Evitts of Jasper will be held at 11 am Thursday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper with burial to follow in St. Anthony Catholic Church Cemetery in St. Anthony.

Friends may call from 3 till 7 pm Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
