Mary E. Leisman, age 77, of St. Anthony, Indiana, passed away at 1:45 p.m. on Monday (May 25, 2015) at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper, Indiana.

Mary was born in Celestine, Indiana  on October 18, 1937 to Alois and Bernice (Nordhoff) Schepers.  She married Albert Leisman on May 26, 1959 in St. Celestine Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on December 28, 1985.

Mary was a homemaker and member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the St. Anthony Christian Mothers.

She enjoyed reading, embroidering, gardening, flowers,  plants, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mary E. Leisman will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday (May 30, 2015) at St. Anthony Catholic Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday (May 29, 2015) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana and one hour before services at the church.  St Anthony Parish will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Wherle, John

John L. Wehrle, age 83 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 6:25 a.m. on Monday (May 25, 2015) at his home.

John was born on August 8, 1931 in Carmi, Illinois to Charles and Lola (Stokes) Wehrle.  He married Debbie Thompson on September 30, 2006 in Maui Hawaii.

John previously owned and operated the Jasper Nursing Center in Jasper, Indiana.

He was an Army Veteran who served in Germany working in special intelligence.

He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper.

He enjoyed taking cruises and traveling, enjoyed fishing, and spending Sundays with family.

Lueken, Agnes

Agnes E. Lueken, age 96 of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 11:52 a.m. Sunday, (May 24, 2015), in St. Charles Health Campus in Japer.

She was born in Jasper, Indiana on January 25, 1919 to Leopold and Catherine (Otto) Stemle.  She married Jerome Lueken on June 9, 1945 and he preceded her in death on June 20, 1967.

She retired from Memorial Hospital and Health Care where she worked for twenty years in food services. Also quilted for Holy Family Church for many years.

Agnes was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper and the Blessed Virgin Sodality.

Hawley, Mary

Mary Hawley, age 87 of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 12:05 p.m. Sunday, (May 24, 2015), at Northwood Good Samaritan Nursing  Center in Jasper.

She was born at Dubois, Indiana on June 24 1927 to William and Florence (Hooten) Hentrup.

Mary retired from Western Electric at Indianapolis, Indiana where she worked for 30 years.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Jasper  and St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois and Telephone Pioneers of America.

Gress, Virgil

Virgil M. Gress, age 70 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 6:14 p.m. on Saturday (May 23, 2015) at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, KY.

Virgil was born in Jasper, Indiana on April 4, 1945 to Anton and Margaret (Lampert) Gress. He married Judy Schlachter  on April 8, 1967 in St. Meinrad Catholic Church in St. Meinrad, Indiana.

Virgil was the co-founder and president of Kitchen Jewels, Inc.  in Jasper, Indiana.   He served as the past president of the Ohio Valley Chapter of the National Kitchen and Bath Association.

He served in the U.S. Army as a Military Police Officer, and was a member of the Jasper American Legion Post #147.

He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, the Jasper Knights of Columbus, the Jasper Optimist Club, and a Past President of the Jasper German Club.  He and his wife Judy served as the host and hostess of the Jasper Strassenfest.

He enjoyed golfing, boating, traveling,  and spending time with his grandchildren.

Hohler, Frieda

Frieda I. Hohler, age 95 of Jasper, Indiana passed away at 6:55 a.m. Monday, (May 25, 2015), at the Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

She was born on September 22, 1919 at Celestine, Indiana to Frank and Margaret (Schnell) Heichelbech.  She married Urban M. Hohler on June 17, 1947.  He preceded her in death onNovember 26, 1995.

Frieda was a homemaker and member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Blessed Virgin Sodality.

She enjoyed camping, playing cards, embroidery, Word Search and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed mother – daughter sleep overs.

James H. Kloeck, 69, of St. Meinrad passed away May 19, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Healthcare Center in Jasper. James was born August 16, 1945 in St. Meinrad to Xavier and Lorena (Rupprecht) Kloeck. James was retired from the Abbey Press. He was a member of Saint Meinrad American Legion Post 366, Saint Meinrad K of C and Saint Meinrad Catholic Church Parish. James was an avid reader, fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Indiana University Sports.

James is survived by four sisters, Theresa Wahl of Evansville, Sr. Vera Kloeck, Edwina Wahl and husband Leo, Betty Knust and husband Jim all of Ferdinand; sister in law, Marta Kloeck of Ferdinand; one brother, Tom M. Kloeck and wife Sarah of Saint Meinrad; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by two brothers, Alfred and Francis Kloeck; two nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 CDT Friday, May 22, 2015 at Saint Meinrad Catholic Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Saint Meinrad American Legion Post 366 will conduct military graveside rights. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 AM CDT until time of service at the church.
