Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:

WBDC-FM and WAXL-FM hosted a student from Jasper High School. The student was a part of the JHS Internship Program and came to learn on her own about the broadcast industry. The student was at the Radio Station studios for approximately 6 hours weekly. She was taught workplace skills and broadcast career opportunities and the education needed. The student was given a chance to see how skills learned in school relate to the workplace. The student was given daily production responsibilities and research duties in broadcast. Later the student was hired on a part-time basis.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:

WBDC-FM and WAXL-FM hosted a student from Forest Park High School. The student was at the Radio Station studios for approximately 2 hours every Friday from 1pm to 3pm. She was taught workplace skills and broadcast career opportunities and the education needed. The student was given a chance to see how skills learned in school relate to the workplace. The student was given daily production responsibilities and research duties in broadcast.

The student was given a chance to see how skills learned in school relate to the workplace.

DCBroadcasting Companies (including WBDC, WAXL, WRZR, and WJTS-TV) VP/GM William C. Potter attended the Vincennes University Jasper Campus Career Fair Thursday April 18, 2014 at the Center for Technology, Innovation and Manufacturing on the campus of VUJC, Jasper, Indiana. Mr. Potter has the say in the hiring of all employees of DCBroadcasting, Inc. including WBDC, WAXL, WRZR, and WJTS-TV. In addition to having a booth at the job fair, many applications were accepted and on-site interviews were held.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:

DCBroadcasting Companies (including WBDC, WAXL, WRZR, and WJTS-TV) VP/GM William C. Potter attended the IBA Job Fair Saturday October 12, 2013 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Potter has the say in the hiring of all employees of DCBroadcasting, Inc. including WBDC, WAXL, WRZR, and WJTS-TV. In addition to having a booth at the job fair, many applications were accepted and on-site interviews were held. WBDC, WAXL, and WRZR each aired 40 thirty-second announcements and WJTS-TV aired 40 thirty-second announcements promoting the job fair and encouraging participation by job seekers and those interested in broadcast careers.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:

WBDC FM, WAXL FM, WRZR FM, WJTS-TV aired a total of 110 PSA’s on each station…Public Service Announcements offering information about the Indiana Broadcasters Association Scholarship Program. The PSA’s encouraged high school and college students to apply for the general IBA scholarship and the Minority Scholarship. Scholarships were made available to the public at the WBDC FM, WAXL FM, WRZR FM, WJTS-TV studios. WBDC FM, WAXL FM, WRZR FM, WJTS-TV also made a financial contribution the Indiana Broadcasters Foundation for the scholarship program

DCBi President Paul Knies, VP/GM Bill Potter and WBDC/WAXL Program Director Evan Elrod attend and participate in the WorkOne Business Seminar series hosted by the Jasper Chamber Of Commerce, Vincennes University Jasper Center and WorkOne / Indiana Workforce Development. The series is held monthly and features speakers mostly from WorkOne and address issues of employment with focus on equality and workforce development. Attendance by staff varied.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation: William C. Potter, GM, Jesse Kluesner, TV Production Dir. Evan Elrod, Radio Program Director, Kelsey Merkel, On-Air/AE, and Ty Hunter, On-Air/AE gave tours of the offices and studios at WBDC/WAXL/WJTS-TV. During the tour and discussion of broadcast, staff told the scouts basic job requirements, responsibilities and opportunities for careers in broadcasting. The scouts recorded a station promo. The tour attendees were also told of the importance of education and broadcast.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation: WBDC and WJTS-TV are members of the Indiana College Success Coalition of Dubois County. General Manager William Potter and Program Director Evan Elrod participate in College Success Coalition mostly through Jasper High School. Local Board Member Glen Weil has appeared on TV and local news to discuss and disseminate information pertaining to programs available in Dubois County. Through the coalition, WBDC and WJTS offer internships, job shadow activities and promotion of CSC events.
