Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:
WBDC-FM and WAXL-FM hosted a student from Southridge High School. The student was a part of the Dubois County Work Based Learning Program. The student was at the Radio Station studios for approximately 6 hours weekly. She was taught workplace skills and broadcast career opportunities and the education needed. The student was given a chance to see how skills learned in school relate to the workplace. The student was given daily production responsibilities and research duties in broadcast.

WBDC-FM and WAXL-FM hosted a student from Forest Park High School. The student was a part of the Dubois County Work Based Learning Program. The student was at the Radio Station studios for approximately 6 hours weekly. She was taught workplace skills and broadcast career opportunities and the education needed. DCBroadcasting Companies (including WBDC, WAXL, WRZR lma, and WJTS-TV) Owner/Pres., Paul Knies attended the IBA Job Fair Saturday April 18, 2015 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Knies has the say in the hiring of all employees of DCBroadcasting, Inc. including WBDC, WAXL, WRZR lma, and WJTS-TV. In addition to having a booth at the job fair, many applications were accepted and on-site interviews were held. WBDC, WAXL, and WRZR each aired 30 thirty-second announcements and WJTS-TV aired 30 thirty-second announcements promoting the job fair and encouraging participation by job seekers and those interested in broadcast careers.

WBDC, WAXL, WRZR,WJTS-TV General Manager made presentations and answered questions about broadcasting careers to 2 separate JAG Classes at Tell City High School (Jobs for America’s Graduates). The presentations were presented to 25 students who are members of the JAG Association at TCHS. Students were told about broadcast career opportunities and the training or education needed.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:
Students from Jasper Middle School and Holy Family/Precious Blood Middle School Junior Achievement program spent the school day at WBDC and WAXL Radio learning about broadcast radio. A tour of the stations and discussions of career opportunities in broadcast were given to the students (15 students). The students were given hands on training in various broadcast applications.

The PSA’s encouraged high school and college students to apply for the general IBA scholarship and the Minority Scholarship. Scholarships were made available to the public at the WBDC FM, WAXL FM, WRZR FM (lma), WJTS-TVstudios. WBDC FM, WAXL FM, WRZR FM (lma), WJTS-TV also made a financial contribution the Indiana Broadcasters Foundation for the scholarship program.

The student was also given examples of how skills learned in school relate to the workplace with emphasis placed on TV broadcast.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:
William C. Potter, GM, Jesse Kluesner, TV Production Dir, and Scott Sollman, On-Air DJ gave a tour of the offices and studios at WBDC/WAXL/WJTS-TV. During the tour and discussion of broadcast, staff told the scouts basic job requirements, responsibilities and opportunities for careers in broadcasting. The scouts recorded a station promo. The tour attendees were also told of the importance of education and broadcast.

WBDC and WJTS-TV are members of the Indiana College Success Coalition of Dubois County. General Manager William Potter participates in College Success Coalition and sits on the advisory board for the Jasper High School Media Advisory Committee guiding the Radio and TV Programs at Jasper High School. Through the coalition, WBDC and WJTS offer internships, job shadow activities and promotion of CSC events.
