Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:   WBDC and WJTS-TV are members of the Indiana College Success Coalition of Dubois County.  General Manager William Potter participates in College Success Coalition and sits on the advisory board for the Jasper High School Media Advisory Committee guiding the Radio and TV Programs at Jasper High School.   Through the coalition, WBDC and WJTS offer internships, job shadow activities and promotion of CSC events.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:   Students from Jasper Middle School and Holy Family/Precious Blood Middle School Junior Achievement program spent the school day at WBDC and WAXL Radio learning about broadcast radio.  A tour of the stations and discussions of career opportunities in broadcast were given to the students (11 students).   The students were given hands on training in various broadcast applications.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:  WBDC-FM/WAXL-FM//WJTS-TV hosted “Flat Stanley” a children’s book character sent to the stations by a third grade student.  “Flat Stanley” spent the week at the stations involved in all the different occupations.  A report of “Flat Stanley’s” activities and the lessons learn were returned to the student for a class presentation.  This is a fun creative way for the third graders to learn about jobs in broadcast.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:  WBDC, WAXL, WRZR, WJTS-TV General Manager conducted mock interviews for the Vincennes University Jasper Campus “Integrated Business Project” class.  As part of the interviews, DCBi GM made presentations and answered questions about broadcasting careers to  individual sessions of 4 students at VUJC.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:  WBDC-FM/WAXL-FM/WRZR-FM(lma)/WJTS-TV hosted a student from Dubois Middle School.  The student was a part of the NEDHS Job Shadow Program.  The students were at the Radio Station studios for WBDC, WAXL, WRZR (lma) and WJTS TV with Brian Schwenk WBDC/WAXL, Ty Hunter, WBDC and Zach Reuber of WJTS TV and the radio stations.  The student was taught workplace skills and broadcast career opportunities and the education needed.  The student was given a chance to see how skills learned in school relate to the workplace with emphasis placed on broadcast.

Host/Sponsor Of Activity:   Dubois Strong, Vincennes University, Patoka Valley Cooperative and HUB 19 in partnership with Jasper, Southridge, Forest Park and Northeast Dubois High Schools. 

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:  WBDC-FM/WAXL-FM//WJTS-TV welcomed the “2019 TOUR OF OPPORTUNITY-CAREER PATHWAYS” coordinated by Dubois Strong, Vincennes University, Patoka Valley Cooperative and HUB 19in partnership with the four county high schools.  DCBi hosted 77 high school freshman and discussed careers in broadcast.  All high school students are given opportunities in a variety of career pathways.  The group that came to DCBi for radio and television were classified as Arts/Audio Visual/Communications pathways.  Students toured the offices, studios, and facility.  A discussion of career opportunities involving staff members making presentations was held with questions and answers.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:  DCBroadcasting Companies (including WBDC, WAXL, WRZR lma, and WJTS-TV) VP/General Manager, William C, Potter, attended the IBA Job Fair Wednesday October 23, 2019 in  Carmel, Indiana.  Mr. Potter has the say in the hiring of all employees of DCBroadcasting, Inc. including WBDC, WAXL, WRZR lma, and WJTS-TV.  In addition to having a booth at the job fair, many applications were accepted and on-site interviews were held.  WBDC, WAXL, and WRZR lma each aired thirty-second announcements and WJTS-TV aired  thirty-second announcements promoting the job fair and encouraging participation by job seekers and those interested in broadcast careers.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:   Jenna Schaffer partnered with Project ACORN to host an event wherein it’s members and general public learned about what it’s like to be a disc jockey as they visited the station.  Program Director Brian Schwenk spoke to them about career opportunities in broadcast and those in attendance were given a tour of the offices and studios. There were 8 guests in attendance ranging in age from teenagers to adults.  The program lasted 1 1/2 hours.

Brief Description Of Activity And Station Participation:  WBDC-FM/WAXL-FM//WJTS-TV hosted kindergarten students from Holy Trinity School for a “Mystery Minutes” educational visit.  The kids are surprised with a visit to the studios to see first hand how stations are run.  DCBi takes the opportunity to discuss career paths to consider in their future.  They are encouraged to read and study well.  The 40 or students spent 1 1/2 hours at the station see all facets of broadcast.

DCBroadcasting Companies (including WBDC, WAXL, WRZR lma, and WJTS-TV) General Manager., William C. Potter participated in the Virtual IBA Job Fair Saturday March 28, 2020 online.  Mr. Potter has the say in the hiring of all employees of DCBroadcasting, Inc. including WBDC, WAXL, WRZR lma, and WJTS-TV.  In addition to virtual participation, many applications were accepted and online interviews were held.  WBDC, WAXL, and WRZR each aired thirty-second announcements and WJTS-TV aired thirty-second announcements promoting the virtual job fair and encouraging registration and participation by job seekers and those interested in broadcast careers.
